Today I’m happy to announce the winners of our Julia Child picture book giveaways, as well as the winner of the Alphabet Soup 5th Birthday Giveaway.
I am determined to proceed with the utmost decorum, hoping for smooth sailing and absolutely no monkey business. Regular readers may recall past giveaways which involved jealousy and in-house fighting, the appearance of mustached imposters, and
bribes desperate pleas to Monsieur Random Integer Generator, whom a prominent blogger in Singapore called “hot.”
Merci beaucoup to all who commented, shared their favorite soups, French foods, and reasons why they love Julia. It was the best of 100th birthday celebrations; those of you who zipped around the internet that week know there was an unprecedented outpouring of love for our favorite Queen of Cuisine.
When we last called upon the services of the ever reliable, astonishingly erudite Monsieur Generator, he was vacationing in sunny Tuscany gorging on pecorino and panzanella.
When he heard the prize books this time were about Julia Child, he immediately flew to Rouen, where he dined on oysters and sole meunière, then on to Paris, where he gazed wistfully at the 81 Rue de l’Université building where Julia and Paul shared an apartment. He respectfully tipped his bowler, fingered his mustache, then toasted the beloved couple with a glass of 1893 Veuve Clicquot.
And then he was ready, dazzled by the beautiful names of all the entrants, misty-eyed that he couldn’t award prizes to each and every one. He nibbled on three pistachio macarons to bolster his courage and then picked three winners.
