Look who’s back — just in time for her 25th anniversary!
A new edition of Linnea in Monet’s Garden by Christina Björk and Lena Anderson (Sourcebooks, 2012) has just been released in the U.S.! Part scrapbook, part picture book biography, this charming first person account art appreciation classic had been out of print for a few years, and I’m so glad it’s available once again for yet another generation of readers to enjoy.
I absolutely love it — purchased a copy for myself years ago when it first came out and it remains a beloved favorite. The illustrations are adorable, but there are also full-color reproductions of Monet’s paintings as well as photographs of him and his family, and yes, his famous blue kitchen! *swoon* Can’t think of a better introduction to Monet’s work and impressionism for 8-12 year-olds.
And guess what? You have about a dozen chances to win a free copy!! Sourcebooks is sponsoring a Linnea Blog Tour — just stop at any of the blogs listed below and leave a comment to be entered in their giveaways. You’ll also be eligible for the grand prize, a Vera Bradley flowery tote bag (winner announced Oct. 25). Full details here. Good Luck!

It’s a wonderful book, Jama. Isn’t it lovely to see it’s going to be in the hands of teachers and students all over again? Thanks!
Yes — this makes me so happy. Even after all these years, it still stands out for its uniqueness, wonderful information and readability.
This looks wonderful, Jama. I think books that allow young readers to learn about art through a child’s eyes are especially valuable. I will have to keep this in mind for my blog.
I hope you feature it!
Wonderful to see Linnea here, Jama, and to learn the book is back in print! I also love another Bjork/Anderson collaborations: Vendela in Venice. Do you know it? I think it would be right up your alley.
Oh, I hadn’t seen that one — thanks for mentioning it! Will look for it.
