friday feast: politics for breakfast

Who me? Talk about politics?

I’d rather eat liver.

But there’s no escaping it. I tried to buy some bacon the other day, and the checkout girl asked if I had foreign policy experience. Okay, not really, but I’ve inhaled so much political hot air that sometimes I feel like I’m going to explode.

Oinkety oink oink!

What a tough campaign — people are apt to say anything just to get elected. Spin on top of spin can make a body ravenous for some meaningful sustenance. That’s why today I’m serving up some ham ham ham.

Whether you like your eggs on the left or right side of your plate, or are desperately trying to find a good spot in the middle, it’s wise to chew slowly, so you don’t choke on all the rhetoric.

Just remember: if all else fails, vote for Porky!

    Great video! I love the guy – the owner? – who says he’s so excited he’s going to start speaking Greek. 🙂
    I’m so excited the debate is back on tonight. Fingers crossed that our man does well. He’s bright enough, but I don’t know if he’s simple enough, since simple (sound-byte level) seems to be what people like. And the man who is not expected to do well (McCain) usually comes out on top with the pundits just because he hasn’t fainted (memories of 2000 and 2004?)

We do SO need a president who can look so at home in a diner eating waffles and a side of bacon, who makes people feel so comfortable when they are so excited to just be near him, who is so real. Love the poem, love the “day of work, lifetime of commitment.” It’s always a feast here! (I accidentally typed, “It’s always a fest here,” and that’s true, too!)
    I’m going to go have Cloud Nine ricotta pancakes with a side of BACON for breakfast at my favorite cafe!

    Thanks for the poem–and the post!
    I haven’t been doing too well keeping current with kidlit blogs lately because I’ve become addicted to reading political news on the Internet.
    I thought Obama did well in his first debate. I’m just wondering what the vice presidential debate will be like.

    Yes, I agree. Obama did very well. Smart as a whip and articulate to a fault. The vice presidential debate may well prove to be even more interesting.
