Jorge Argueta is a celebrated Salvadoran poet and author whose bilingual books have won many awards, including the Americas Award, the International Latino Book Award, and the IPPY Award for Multicultural Fiction (Juvenile/Young Adults). With his wife Holly Ayala, he publishes and sells multicultural bilingual children’s books at Luna’s Press and Bookstore in San Francisco’s Mission District.

  3. I was unfamiliar with Jorge…so thanks for sharing this, Jama. I’ll need to look for some of his books.

    1. Look for his cooking poem series — each book features a recipe poem. So far he’s done Bean Soup, RIce Pudding, Guacamole, Tamalitos and Salsa. There’s a different illustrator for each book to add to the deliciousness. He also has several other stand alone PBs. A MOVIE IN MY PILLOW is especially lovely.

  6. Well, the spring temperatures took a serious dip here down South today; sure glad your series is here to keep us nice and warm….

    I just looked up Jorge’s poem in The Poetry Friday Anthology for Celebrations – wonderful! Makes me want to dance. :0) I “liked” the bookstore Facebook page, too. What an inviting shop!
