I don’t know what the weather is like in Stockholm. All I know is that ONE SNOWFLAKE, the one I had my heart set on, will soon be on its way to Virginia!
YES, THAT’S RIGHT! I JUST GOT WORD THAT I WON LINAS ALSENAS’ SNOWFLAKE in Auction 2!!!
“The Clauses,” by Linas Alsenas
The thing is, I was sure I hadn’t won, since I hadn’t heard anything all weekend. I placed my bid at precisely 4:58 p.m., Friday afternoon. From prior experience with Ebay, I know serious bidders often wait till the final seconds of an auction. So you just never know. In an auction, five seconds can be a long time.
In hindsight, I think maybe this snowflake was fated to be mine. I liked it immediately upon first seeing it. And even before any of the auctions began, I won a copy of Linas’ wonderful picture book featuring this dynamic duo, Mrs. Claus Takes a Vacation (2006), from cloudscome at A Wrung Sponge. So when it came time to narrowing down my choices, I closed my eyes and thought of Sweden. In case you’re wondering, Linas lives what sounds like a charmed life in Stockholm with his partner, Jan. Read cloudscome’s wonderful interview with Linas here, and for even more about his work, visit his website.
So now maybe I should ask Santa for two tickets to Sweden, so I can thank Linas in person?
Woo-hoo! You must have been a very good girl to get an EARLY Christmas present from Mr. and Mrs. Claus.

In his interview, Linas says they will be leaving out 2 plates of cookies — one for Santa, one for Mrs. Claus. I like that equal treatment!

Yeah, I really love it. It was hard to narrow it down to just one, but in the end I think I got the right one.
