On July 6, 1957, Paul McCartney met John Lennon for the first time in Liverpool. They were 15 and 16, and John led a band called The Quarrymen.
Here is a video I saw on BB-Blog with backstory on “A Day in the Life,” included on the Sgt. Pepper album, released in 1967. It is considered by many to be the most influential rock song ever, containing two portions independently composed by Lennon and McCartney which are joined by an orchestral bridge. The famous E-major chord at the end was played simultaneously on three pianos and rings out for over forty seconds.
Have a great Sunday, and celebrate the Beatles!
BEATLE-lific!
Bravo! How coincidental! Last night, after the buzz of a July 4th picnic-ing and the final touches on the ARTSfest postcard, I felt like “doing little” –no book reading, no more art. I was in a Beatle-mood. So, I popped in a VHS cassette I made from the television broadcast of “The Beatles Anthology.”
This was an excellent “Beatle-breakfast.” I can ride this high for awhile!

Oh, yay! I love stuff like this (especially when I can see pics of George! =) )
That shot of Donovan makes him look like an angel! And Brian Jones – so young & good-looking, what a shame…
Thanks for posting this! =^)

You’re welcome, Julia. Those old photos take me right back to the 60’s.

Me, too. There was something magical about the 60’s. I don’t think anything quite like it will ever happen again.
