Holy icicle, it’s cold here! I know, I know. I shouldn’t complain about 2 degrees F when people in the Midwest have been in the subzeros for awhile now.
I do know the best way to keep warm is to channel Hawai’i.
But if you wanna be Hawaiian, you gotta have a Hawaiian name.
My name, Jama, is a combination of James and Margaret. The Hawaiian equivalent combines Kimo with Makaleka — Kima. Not bad, Kima Rattigan.
Here are the Hawaiian first names of some of my favorite people:
Paulo McCartney
Lopaka Dylan
Palapala Streisand
Pali Gibb
Peweli Cleary
Kini Austen
Kinini Atkins
Keli Fineman.
Find out your Hawaiian name here or here.
Got it? Now put this flowah
behind yo’ ear.
Lookin’ good!
Have some Kona coffee and coconut cake.
Warm yet?
Okay. Now, escape to Waikiki, compliments of the Brothers Cazimero. Return there whenever you feel a chill coming on.
Remember, your chant for today: Waikiki, Waikiki, Waikiki . . .
Now you sizzling, brah!
Aloha,
Kima
xxoo
Mahalo!

Keli here. Those warm photos do not warm me nearly as much as my foamy latte. They do, however, make it clear to me that I am nowhere particularly warm on this grey, cold day.

Mmmm, just mentioning Kona coffee made me drool. I hope to have a cup with you one day — in person.
Thanks for warming me up.

Oh, I sooooo want to go. I think once my kids are grown and gone, we will plan trips to sunny destinations in February. It’s something to look forward to in the dead of winter and besides, our anniverary is then too! For now, with kids in school, it’s pretty much impossible. So, I’ll have to watch the video and imagine… π

Aloha, Lika! Found your name on a different webpage. At least you’re on the West Coast, which is closer to Hawai’i than where I am in Virginia. It’s a long flight for us. Perhaps you could set a future novel in Hawai’i, and go there for “research?” It’s a romantic place with lots of inspiration. π

Aloha! Thanks for the very cute pictures of children (and you thought I was going to say coconut cake!) and giving me a nudge to Hawai’i. I’ve got a name, I’ve got to go! I’m so proud to be in a list with Lopaka Dylan!
And you can absolutely complain about two degrees. That’s nutty!
your pal, Kinini, which is very nice, even if it does sound like something to eat. There was a day in my wilder youth when I was known as Jeannine Caffeine.

It is pure torture looking at that slice of coconut cake. Especially since I don’t think I have ever actually had any coconut cake in my life. Hmm….

Kinini does sound like something to eat — like a skinny sausage :D! Either that, or a noodle wearing a bikini. LOL.
Jeannine Caffeine, huh? I’ll have to store that in my blackmail file . . .

Roberta? I used to tutor a lady named Roberta! Robertas are good people :).
So where does Tarie come from?
Can’t believe you’ve never had coconut cake. Even better is haupia cake — a yellow cake with coconut pudding. *Drooling uncontrollably*

Thanks for a bit of Hawaii warmth! I like both Jama and Kima. They both are interesting names.
The site said my name is Kekepania, but I’m not sure how they came up with that. It’s cool knowing my Hawaiian name though, thanks π

Awww… they didn’t have an equivalent of my name (Kristi) in Hawaiian. But I will go grab a cup of Kona coffee as I watch the snow outside.

I guess the closest would be Christine or something. Still, since you do those hula exercises, you’re officially Hawaiian!
