Need some inspiration? Wondering how to court the muse? Consider this:
"The poet Schiller used to keep rotten apples under the lid of his desk and inhale their pungent bouquet when he needed to find the right word. Then he would close the drawer, although the fragrance remained in his head. Researchers at Yale University discovered that the smell of spiced apples has a powerful elevating effect on people and can even stave off panic attacks. Schiller may have sensed this all along. Something in the sweet, rancid mustiness of those apples jolted his brain into activity while steadying his nerves."

thank you!
Thanks so much for the adorable teddy bears. It’s nice to meet you too!
Not so sure what you mean about the cupcake though – yikes. I sent a virtual cupcake to a friend for her birthday today and wonder if LJ sent 2?
And a big thanks for the reminder of Ackerman’s book. I need to pull that out to reread. It’s one of my favorites.

Do you think it counts to leave chocolate under the lid of my desk? 🙂

Re: thank you!
Could be my mistake . . . LJ sent me a notice about you wanting me to enjoy a cupcake. No harm done. The teddy bears wanted me to greet a new friend!!

Chocolate counts no matter where you leave it! Under, over, behind, inside, on top of your desk. Especially DARK chocolate :).

Apples never last long enough around here to have time to rot! Too bad dust bunnies don’t work the same way. But hey, if I’m promised inspiration, I’ll tuck a few apples away and see what happens. I wonder if hot spiced apple cider has that effect too?

It’s worth a try. I just bought some apple cider, too.
