hotTEAs of Children’s Literature: Lisa Schroeder

Once upon a time Lisa Schroeder wanted to join Encyclopedia Brown on his fun adventures. Since that didn’t work out, she decided to be an author instead. Lisa has written over a dozen books for kids and teens including IT’S RAINING CUPCAKES and MY SECRET GUIDE TO PARIS. She’s a native Oregonian and lives with her family outside of Portland.

☕ CUPPA OF CHOICE: Tea, tea, glorious tea. Tea for you and tea for me! My favorite decaf is Teatulia’s Lemongrass tea. That’s often what I drink in the afternoons. In the mornings, I switch it up with various kinds. But no Earl Grey. Ewwww. I occasionally splurge on a soy chai latte, but never drink coffee because it gives me a headache.

☕ HOT OFF THE PRESSES: The Girl in the Tower, illustrated by Nicoletta Ceccoli (Henry Holt, March 2016), Sealed with a Secret (Scholastic, May 10, 2016), and My Secret Guide to Paris (Scholastic paperback edition, March 2016).

☕ FAVE FOODIE CHILDREN’S BOOK: All Four Stars by Tara Dairman (J.P. Putnam’s Sons, 2014).

☕ ☕ JUST ONE MORE SIP: Check out this cool trailer for The Girl in the Tower:

☕☕☕ CAN’T GET ENOUGH: Love this photo of Lisa at Alice’s Tea Cup in NYC, where she ate the most delicious scone of her entire life! A look of sheer bliss on her face. *sigh*

☕ ☕ ☕ ☕ STILL THIRSTY: Check out Lisa’s Charmed Life Series!!

  1. I’m with you, Lisa. I cannot drink coffee, and I am most definitely NOT a fan of Earl Gray, but I love tea (my favorite is a German one).

Congrats! Looking forward to reading your books! 🙂

    1. I must join you ladies who do not like Earl Grey! I know lots of people prefer it above all others (even Queen Elizabeth likes it in the afternoon), but I’m more of a darjeeling person. 🙂

  2. *at all the Earl Grey naysaying, she cheerfully sips her double bergamot Earl Grey and thinks, “more for me, then”*

A proper mug, as every hotTEA must have, and the Charmed Life series looks adorbs! This author is super fortunate in her cover designs; this stuff looks like Tween-bait, the stuff a lot of MG readers love.

    1. Yes, those are great covers. The Girl in the Tower is especially gorgeous. I’m a big fan of Lisa’s cupcake books, naturally. 🙂

Sorry to say I’m an Earl Grey naysayer as well. Also don’t drink any coffee. Please feel free to drink my share of EG whenever you like!

  3. Well, I do love me some Earl Grey. And coffee. And all kinds of tea, particularly peppermint at night.

So nice to “meet” Lisa here, and enjoy this spread of offerings! The trailer was charming, and I agree all this book art is terrific. Thanks to both of you for sharing.

    1. Another Earl Grey and coffee lover? It’s weird that I never developed a taste for coffee. It supposedly has many health benefits too. 🙂
